CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY PURSUIT WITH WAH GOR

Appointing a calligrapher to write the brand name was a trend in the 1980s among many shopping malls, organisations and movie posters. A street filled with different bespoke scribbles was a fashionable imprint of memory of the yesteryear Hong Kong.

FWD HOUSE 1881 has invited Wah Gor, the renowned calligrapher in the city, to promote calligraphy using the movie posters he has penned while demonstrating associated techniques and variations in this workshop. In addition to acquiring basic calligraphy skills and practising with movie posters of different styles, participants will also receive a customized inscription by Wah Gor.

Mr. Fung Siu Wah, known by pen name Wah Gor, is a member of China Calligraphers Association (Hong Kong), Hong Kong Calligraphers' Association, the founder, Chairperson and tutor of Wah Gor Society. Wah Gor was the appointed calligrapher for a number of shopping malls, companies and movie posters such as To Be Number One, Fight Back to School, The Lucky Guy, True Legend, The God of Cookery, The Legend is Born: Ip Man, Rigor Mortis, Mad World and many more.
