Mahjong is played with a set of 144 tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols, previously hand carved by skillful craftsman. Developed in China during the Qing dynasty, the game has been recognized by the HK Government as “intangible cultural heritage”.

One of the remaining 3-4 carvers in Hong Kong, Master Cheung Shun-king will demonstrate how to hand carve a mahjong tile by sharing the techniques and procedures. Participants can create and bring home a unique mahjong tile hand carved by themselves.
